Growing up in Louisville, KY, there was no shortage of opportunities to hear about Jesus. Though I lived the majority of my childhood with family that did not regularly attend church, I frequently visited my mom who was very active in her church community. I grew a respect for God and developed morals based on the Bible. I even made a confession of faith and was baptized as a pre-teen. It was evident that God changed my heart and put a desire in me to live more for him than for the culture around me. On the other hand, I was so used to being involved in Christian activities to prove my faith, that I failed to see how I could grow in my relationship with God outside of that.

This mindset continued in college. At Northern Kentucky University (NKU) I was involved in leadership of multiple Christian groups and was open about my faith in Jesus. However, I grew more in general maturity than I grew in actually deepening my relationship with God. This is why it was such a blessing that I got involved with Campus Outreach during my junior year. I was connected with Taylor Fritz (Babbs) and her intentional discipleship drastically changed my perspective on what it meant to know God better and continue doing that for a lifetime. I learned that God is not only pleased if I perform or do Christian activities, but with my desire to be closer to him each day.

Now that I am on staff with CO, I have a desire to help students know that there is more to being a Christian than performing and doing things for God. I want students to know about the God who wants to be with them, and who sent his only Son to make that possible.
