Campus Staff, University of Kentucky

Until my senior year of college my life revolved around baseball. I played throughout college from 2019-2022. Growing up I occasionally went to church with my family, but it felt like a chore. I would’ve called myself a Christian, but I had no desire to attend church, read my Bible, or have spiritual conversations. I thought if I worked hard and treated others the way I wanted to be treated, then I would get to heaven.

My junior year at UofL, I got a season-ending injury which threw me down a spiral of uncertainty about my career and life in general. Soon after my injury, a former teammate and close friend of mine asked me if I would start reading a book with him, which was about understanding the Gospel. While reading with him, I finally understood what the gospel was. I realized there was no way for me to earn my salvation by being “good enough," because I could never live up to God’s commandments unless someone did it for me. By God’s grace and my friend sharing his faith with me, I realized a relationship with Jesus far exceeded whatever baseball could offer.

Heading into my senior year of college, I got involved with Campus Outreach at UofL where I met Adalie. We both were impacted in college through Campus Outreach and very quickly began to see the value of discipleship and growing in our relationship with God. We married in late 2023 and moved to Lexington to start working for CO at the University of Kentucky. Because of the impact that CO staff had on our lives, we now feel a longing desire to form relationships with college students, share the gospel with them, and help them walk with Jesus while in college and years after.
